Tokushima University was Ranked First among National Universities and Third in the Nation in the "Comprehensive Ranking of Universities' Community Contribution Survey across the Country" (NIKKEI GLOCAL No. 519 (published November 3rd, 2025))

In the survey conducted by the Nikkei Inc. on 777 national, public, and private universities across the country (497 universities responded) to ask how universities contribute to their local communities, Tokushima University was ranked first among national universities and third among all universities for the fourth consecutive time.

In this survey, responses to each of the following categories were scored: "University Organization and System," "Students and Residents," "Businesses and Government," and "Management and Disaster Prevention," and the rankings were determined by the total scores.

Of these, Tokushima University achieved high standards in three of the four areas: fourth place in "Students and Residents," third place in "Business and Government," and eighth place in the newly established "Management and Disaster Prevention." In particular, Tokushima University was praised for holding councils, symposiums, and open lectures that involve the local community, as well as for promoting regional revitalization through agreements with various organizations. Tokushima University's distinctive internship efforts were also recognized, and we were introduced to the development of programs in collaboration with local companies. These points are also behind our rising rankings in the "Students and Residents" and "Business and Government" areas.

In recent years, expectations and interest in the role that universities can play in their local communities have grown, and the ways in which they can be involved have become more diverse. Tokushima University has set "Contribution to Society" as its basic philosophy and goal, and has been working to promote the “Strategic Community Collaboration” and the “Collaboration between Industry, Government and Academia.”
